Book ahead for lunch at Harvest, or take away a picnic pack of local artisan produce from their deli if you’d prefer to grab-and-go. Nearby Bangalow is also a good spot for retail therapy.
For a nature fix, explore the Bangalow Weir Parklands, which have been regenerated with hundreds of native plant species; in the waterways you can also spot turtles and occasionally the elusive platypus that live along the riverbank. Local Indigenous elder Delta Kay runs bush food tours here on a Thursday afternoon.

Minyon Falls
a breathtaking natural wonder located in the beautiful Nightcap National Park. This picturesque lookout offers a stunning panoramic view of the magnificent Minyon Falls, which cascade down over 100 meters into the lush rainforest below.

Killen Falls
An 8 minute drive from Newrybar takes you to the car park for Killen Falls, where you can follow a short track that leads to the bottom of the falls. With a spacious cave behind the falls and a sizeable pool before it, Killen Falls makes for a fabulous summer swimming spot and is definitely one of the best Byron Bay hinterland waterfalls.

Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary
The previously known, iconic 'Macadamia Castle' has evolved into the new Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Now run by a not-for-profit organisation, the complex, which features an 18-hole mini golf course, waterpark, cafe and playground, will be transformed into a sanctuary and home for the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital. Open for visitors during the upgrade, owl, snake and sugar glider experiences are available, and for those keen to stock up, there are still plenty of macadamias available for purchase from the gift shop.

Wollumbin / Mount Warning
World Heritage-listed Wollumbin National Park, formerly known as Mount Warning National Park, is a great place for a picnic or a day walk. Around one hundred thousand people climb the Wolllimbin 8 km round trip each year. The mountain bush hike starts off with you quickly being engulfed by the rainforest that forms much of the scenery on the journey up the summit. The nature of the forest changes as you climb higher. The track is like many bush tracks in popular national parks. It is well worn and scattered with rocks and with the occasional tree root. There are steps, stairs, pathways and handrails in more difficult spots to help make your journey up Mt Warning easier. In fact, up until the last few hundred metres, the whole journey is relatively easy.The last 200 metres or so is a steep climb with you having to help pull yourself up with chain rails that have been installed for the job.

Brunswick Heads is nestled on the mouth of the Brunz River, offering picturesque views and plenty of opportunities for water activities. Whether you enjoy kayaking, fishing, or just taking a leisurely stroll along the riverbank, there's something for everyone.
